Dear Mary,
You are very lucky that you had fallen in love with someone, because love is the precious emotion of human beings. However, first love is always rough, especially you had no experience of dealing with the opposite sex. But that’s ok. You can learn it yourself from your classmates. College is like a miniature of the society. It is filled with people of all kinds and you have to get along with them. And then, you will learn how to get along with people.
As to your question to love, I give you a vital advice that you must not be too aggressive to him, or he will be alarmed. You ought to approach him in a mild way. Since you are in the same department, you can know him by asking for advices from him. They can be about study, schoolwork, classes, and various matters. There will be lots of reasons for you to approach him. Then, you will become friends. And you will have even more opportunities to be with him. You two will be very good friends.
Little by little, you will know him more. Then you will be able to consider whether he is the one you want. If the answer is yes, try to confess yourself to him what you think of him; but, if you were refused, don’t be depressed. You can still take him as a friend or just a stranger you have never known.
But I cannot give you any insurance. All I can do is only you my opinions. Who can decide are only you. Any decision can influence what will happen in the future. So you have to receive the consequences to come. To sum up, “Think before you leap,” or you will hurt yourself from top to end.
Sincerely yours,
Mrs. Nancy

There are differences of opinions on the Avian Flu. Some said this could claim 150 million deaths but there are others who said current alarm on avian flu is unwarranted as there is no proof of spreading between humans.
According to United Nation's chief coordinator on bird flu said 150 million or more could die from the disease, if a pandemic strikes. One of the frightening issues for a human flu pandemic arising from avian influenza is its unpredictability.
It's difficult to estimate the death toll should H5N1 virus mutates into a form. Which can be easily transmitted between human. It is not possible to predict whether a pandemic would occur once or it would repeat. However, an epidemiologist recommended that Government should take every possible precaution the threat of bird flu, seriously.
Contrary to all dire talks about avian flu pandemic coming, an Ecologist dismissed the current panic as unsubstantiated and guess work.
Ecologist commented that H5N 1 virus still remains a bird virus and has no scientific evidences of human to human transmission. There are billion of people across Asia which only 118 are reported being affected by avian flu. So, how do they calculate to show that 150 million or more death will come from avian flu. The global panic, according to the Ecologist, is the result of "scare tactics" created by politicians, medical officers, and the media.
It's premature to predict the outcome of avian flu. Health scientist could confirm the possibility of human to human transmission. The advice is to keep cool and DON'T PANIC because if you do, you will weaken your resistance and reduce your immune system.

This is an ordinary 3-star hotel. The staff are quite helpful and cheerful. There was a bit of a strange odor in the washroom. Since our stay was arranged by the tour operator, we ( my wife and I) were treated a bit differently by the staff -in a nice way. For example, we were seated in a different and more private area during bread fast. The first day, some western food were placed on our table separately since they knew we were from Canada. This was stopped when we told the waitress that we did not mind the Chinese buffet and would not like to waste the western food.
The temperature of the hotel was found to be a bit too warm. Like most Chinese hotels ( except the 5-stars), there was essentially no non-smoking room, let alone floors. The cigarette smoke from the neighboring rooms were utterly awful and disgusting. Hopefully, China will ban smoking in public places before more people die of cancer.
The hotel was situated right across a park and a massage center. We tried the whole body Thai style massage at a cost of 100 RMB/2 hrs ( approx. $15 Canadian). We were treated so nice by the staff as well as the two giggling masseurs that we went back the second day.
