Classroom language : teaching in the class

Hello class! How are you? Have you taken care of a sick person?
You know when people are sick they get bit nasty, little bit on low edge of their nerves and they are cranky.
Have you experienced something like that while taking care of someone?
Write about your experience in personal connection. You have 10 minutes to do so.

Short stories…who likes stories? Short stories are my favorite.
Not too long and not too short, just right. We are going to read one of a story by famous, well-known writer.

Classroom language:
Today, we are going to read a story about a girl.
What do you think this story is about?
Does the title “The Last Leaf” signify anything? What can it possibly be about?
Let’s read and find out.
As always, what are you supposed to do before reading?
Yes that’s right. Look for a partner.
Did everyone have a partner. Good!
Now read the story, you can put a question on places which you don’t understand or need clarification.
Done reading. Great!
Now let’s see what the story is about.
Did you like the ending?
Do you want to change it?

Classroom Language:
Time for discussion.
Let’s look at the questions and discuss them!
What do you all think about question no. 1. Please raise your hand to answer.
Anyone else wants to try?
Continue till all questions are done.

Faith, do you think faith is important? What is your opinion?
Write your opinion and reflection in personal journal.
Done, people. Good job! Who wants to share?

Classroom Language:
If something happens…..what if this happens then ……
Today we will learn about conditionals. Sometimes these conditions are true and can happen but sometimes these are about our wishful thinking.
Like if I win a lottery
Or if I study hard etc..
Open your book and let’s look in depth at conditionals.

Classroom Language:
Let’s answer some wishful questions.
Look at the questions in active conversation, answer these questions.
Are you done? Good.
Now go around the class and share your answers with 3 to 4 people and compare your answers.
Does anyone have the same answers as you do? Who thinks like you?

Classroom Language:
Did you understand the conditionals?
Yes, that’s good. Now you will rewrite a part of “The Last Leaf using conditionals.
You can refer to Building Blocks for the sentence pattern of conditionals.

Classroom Language:
Let’s put on our creative hat.
Today, we are going to create a masterpiece for our class based on the story “The Last Leaf”.
Are you ready? Ready 1 , 2, 3 start…

Classroom Language:
When we look at life, we always think “what if it was like this” or
“what if I hadn’t done that”, how would my life be?
It is human nature and all of us do it from time to time.
Ask your parents or grandparents if they had to change something in their life. What would it be?
Rewrite it in English using conditionals.
Which conditional will you use?
