- The title of this chaper is ‘When there is a will there is a way’, isn’t it?
Jika ada kemauan, pasti ada jalan.
We will learn from many examples here
- Let’s look closely at the picture here. What do think happened to this woman? ... Yes, she’s got an accident.
- When do you think she got the accident? What was she doing when she got the accident? ... Yes, when she was riding on her motorcycle. It seems that she was wounded. Her motorcycle was damaged too.
- Why do you think she got an accident? ... Yeah. Maybe because (diulang 2 atau 3 kali) she was not riding carefully. We see here only she got the accident, right?
- But, why did she fall from her motorcycle? ... Yeah, maybe because she was sleepy. Or ... maybe because ... she hit another motorcycle. Or ... maybe because ... another vehicle hit her? The reasons are all possible.
- But, she was lucky. She did not get head injury. Why? Right. Because she was wearing a helmet. She was wearing a helmet, so she survived.
- Why do you think the policeman was running? ... Of course! Because he was going to examine the accident and help the woman.
- Why should the policeman examine the accident? Yes. So, he will know why the accident has happened.
- The police have done many things to prevent accidents, but there are more and more accidents everyday. Why?
- Although we have tra"c signs and tra"c lights everywhere, accidents still happen. Why? ... because many people do not obey them.
- How will we solve the problems? Can we solve the problems? Yes, we can! When there is a will, there is a way.
- Look, everybody. It is written here that we are going to learn to ... (peserta didik diminta untuk membaca bersama guru tujuan yang tertera di halaman tersebut) ... to communicate reasons, eects, and contrasts. We learn to say, for example, this woman got an accident because ... (tunggu sampai anak meneruskan) because she did not ride on her motorcycle carefully. She did not ride carefully. So she got an accident. She was wearing a helmet, so ... so she did not get head injury. She did not get head injury, because ... because she was wearing a helmet.
- We will also learn to tell contrasting conditions. There are many tra!c signs but road accidents happen everyday. Many people get accidents at the crossroads, although there are tra!c lights there.
- Yuni lives far from the school but she walks to school because she wants to be healthy. Although we know that smoking can destroy our lungs, some of us start smoking now. Maybe because they just don’t care.
- What for do we need to learn to use because, so, but and although? To show the reason, the result, and the opposite condition? Yes, we need that to (sambil menunjuk ke tulisan di halaman pendahuluan) to provide an explanation, to give good examples, to give excuses, and to clarify.
- Dan sebagainya.
